Build Green

Green building is the practice of designing, building, and operating homes or buildings in ways that reduce environmental impact while improving human health and comfort—from construction to renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition.

Green buildings offer a variety of environmental, economic, and social benefits, such as protecting ecosystems, reducing resource use and operating costs, enhancing occupant comfort and health, and reducing future energy demands and infrastructure needs for our community.

Bainbridge Island currently has more than 25 certified green building projects, including houses, townhomes, apartments, schools, grocery stores, and museums.
