Deviation from Design & Construction Standards
Applicants may request a deviation from the City of Bainbridge Island Design & Construction Standards (DCSS) per section 1-13. A deviation from the DCSS may be granted by the City Engineer or designated representative upon evidence that such deviations are in the public interest and are based on sound Engineering principles and practices. The requirements for safety, function, appearance and maintainability must be fully met.
Requests shall be formally made in writing as part of the land use and/or construction permit(s) review process and approved prior to issuance of the associated permit(s). Please note that the deviation request form is only for deviation from COBI Design & Construction Standards and cannot be used for deviations from International Building Code (IBC), the Department of Ecology Stormwater Manual (SWMMWW), or any other State/Federal regulations.
